For those of us who like to shuffle tarot from time to time, you might have noticed that one card always seems to show up. That one stubborn card that appears in nearly every reading, no matter how much you shuffle. I’ve come to believe that this card represents something deeper- our unconscious core, an unfiltered glimpse into our truest needs. A sign pointing toward the universe’s perfected path. The becoming of our most original selves.
Given my spiritual soul, I often find myself turning to tarot when I feel lost. One such moment happened not long ago- I sat down with my cat, casually asking her (as if she could answer) what my life might look like if I made a certain choice. I think she did know, she swiped at my tarot deck, sending the cards tumbling from the windowsill onto the floor. They scattered across the room in complete chaos. And yet- coincidentally, or perhaps not- only one card landed face up.
The Tower.
My stomach dropped, though I wasn’t surprised. Of course, it had to be The Tower. It always is.
Change follows me like a shadow. Sometimes it’s dramatic, sometimes subtle, but it’s always there. Maybe it’s in my nature- I could never live a life of routine. Stagnation, to me, is a nightmare. Sooner or later, every tower I build crumbles, only to make space for a new, better one.
And so, the question lingers- can a single card really change the way we see our lives?
Tarot isn’t about the future- it’s about the truth.
First, let’s get something straight: tarot is not about predicting the future. Despite its mystical aura, it’s not a crystal ball or a fate-sealing prophecy. Tarot doesn’t tell us what will happen- it tells us what we already know but might be avoiding.
A reading is less about external fate and more about internal reflection. The cards act as a mirror, revealing patterns, thoughts, and intuitive nudges we might otherwise ignore. That’s why a tarot reading can feel so eerily accurate- because deep down, we recognize the truth in it.
Have you ever reshuffled the deck, hoping for a different answer- only to pull the same card again? Have you ever twisted a card’s meaning, bending its message to fit what you wanted to hear? I know I have. And I also know how ridiculous it feels when it happens for the third time in a row. Are the cards playing a joke on me? Or am I just in such deep denial that the universe has no choice but to keep spelling it out?
There’s a fine line between intuition and delusion. The more I fought against The Tower, the more obvious it became that I needed to stop resisting. Maybe my frustration wasn’t with the card itself, but with the truth I wasn’t ready to face.
The cards finally stopped being sassy- and started to make sense.
Once I stopped twisting the meanings to fit my comfort zone, something shifted. The Tower was here, again, but this time I let it sink in. Change was necessary. Again.
And strangely, that realization brought relief. The readings stopped feeling like a cosmic joke at my expense and started becoming something else entirely- an honest conversation with myself. No more pushing against the inevitable, no more arguing with the deck. Just me, asking the right questions, finally willing to listen.
Tarot doesn’t give us answers. It gives us clarity. And sometimes, that’s all we need.
So next time logic and practicality fail you, try pulling a card- not for a prediction, but for perspective. But remember: the magic isn’t in the cards. It’s in the way they make us pause, reflect, and finally see.
